Deepening the Pro-Life Conversation: Truly Seeing Women
Ali Dazzio and her older sister, Natasha (1994)
Too often when I hear people talk about abortion, they forget to try to understand where a woman is coming from. Regardless of if one agrees with abortion or not, it is important to stop and to listen as a woman shares her story. Pope St. John Paul II once said that “It is necessary to understand the soul of the woman.” In other words, we must try to understand what a woman is feeling from within.
In this ever-important bonus episode, Ali Dazzio helps us understand more deeply the hard realities facing women in crisis pregnancies by explaining an essential part of this question: How does abortion affect a woman from within her person? As Ali explains, the truth must always be accompanied by love in any of the conversations we have about abortion, and this discussion does just that.
I invite you to join me as I listen to Ali Dazzio share both about the need for compassion and understanding in pro-life discussions as well as about the ever-essential truth that God’s mercy is always present for those who have experienced abortion.
If you want to understand better how and why we need more compassion in addressing abortion and the long-term effects it has on women, then this episode is for you. More than anything, it is important that we together find a way to create safe spaces for healing and support for the many women and men who are in crisis or have experienced the pain of abortion. Every story matters.

Alison Dazzio is most proud to be called mom by my 3 amazing daughters and wife to their dad! Growing up in South Louisiana, Ali attended Catholic School through the university level, graduating from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio in 1994.
Ali delights greatly in the gift of being wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker, etc…yet the greatest joy of her life is being God’s… to be loved and known by He who is God, her Creator, her Father, her Jesus, her savior, her dearest friend, and eternal lover. For her, the invitation is to live a life through, with, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Belonging to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is everything from which all else that is beautiful, true, good and holy flows. Love never fails. (1 Cor 13)
Currently, Ali works at Christ the King on the campus of Louisiana State University as the Administrative Director. After working as and loving being a stay-at-home mom for 18 years, I went to work for a medical company she helped start, ImmediaCare, and then went to work for Woman’s New Life Clinic in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana. She did not plan or have a desire to work for the Church or with college students, but the Lord brought her to this particular work at Christ the King, and it has become a great joy and blessing in her life.
